Greetings all. The Summer Session of Free Skool Santa Cruz has ended with the coming of the autumn equinox. First, we, the Free Skool Santa Cruz Crew, want to express we are grateful for your involvement in this project – thanks so very much. And you may be wondering what’s next? What about future sessions?
When we envisioned (re)starting a new and not entirely different version of Free Skool Santa Cruz in the spring, we wanted to help foster opportunities for connection and learning and experiencing together, especially since the pandemic seemed to be on the wane, and then in late June, just as the summer session started it was clear that pandemic protocols for individual and community care were still vital (then and now).
In May, we planned to begin with a summer session and then assess our own capacity regarding future sessions. And given our increased obligations in the fall and the continued pandemic into the fall and winter, we decided to continue the project next spring/summer 2022.
And in the meanwhile, we want to offer to publicize and support, in various ways, individuals and groups that are offering connective and learning opportunities – particularly those that have an alignment with our intentions for Free Skool Santa Cruz – “It is an opportunity to learn from each other and share what we know, to foster communities of mutual support and autonomy.” So, let us know what you are working on and how we can help spread the word (and perhaps provide a space in the SubRosa courtyard at 703 Pacific Ave).
And we are wondering how the summer session was for you. What went wonderfully? How can we improve? We hope to also follow up with you with more detailed questions (if we have capacity).
