< First many days of classes! >
-Fábrica Open Hours – Saturdays / 2-5 p.m. and Mondays / 1-4 p.m. with Fábrica Collective (thefabrica@thefabrica.org)
Location: The Fábrica, 703 Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA
Description: The Fábrica is a community workspace where folks can come to learn and share knowledge about textiles arts. This includes Sewing, Knitting, Quilting, Embroidery, Crochet, and Bookbinding, among others. The workshop is operated by volunteers and funded by donations from participants.
Materials: We have sewing machines as well as generous amounts of fabric, zippers, notions, and the other tools and supplies one needs for most sewing and yarn-based projects. There is no charge to use the shop, but please consider a $5-10 donation to help with our operating costs.
Accessibility: Classes will take place in the courtyard or shop space of the Fabrica. The shop and courtyard are level with the sidewalk, with no steps up or down. A flexible range of participation is available and no previous sewing experience is needed. If you want to participate in the hands-on part of the class, it involves sitting in a chair at a table for 10-15 minutes at a time, some manual dexterity, and moderate to high visual acuity. The class will use spoken English and there will not be a sign language interpreter but you can bring interpreters or support people of any kind you may need. The Fabrica is approximately 450 feet from the Metro Station downtown, with city sidewalks with regular curb cuts between the station and the Fabrica.

-Queer Yoga – Wednesday June 15th / 5-6 p.m. with Sapphire Yoga Collective (chloe.m.rosen@gmail.com or instagram @sapphireyogacollective)
Location: Ocean View Park, Santa Cruz, CA
Description: This is an all-levels yoga flow for queer, trans, and nonbinary identified folks. No prior experience necessary. The class incorporates traditional yogic practices including philosophy, meditation, pranayama (breathing) and asana (physical postures) — which stem from India — through a queer/abolitionist lens. Queer spaces are INVALUABLE, and queer yoga spaces, in particular, are radical by nature, as connection with the mind/body/spirit is essential in caring for oneself and thus practicing collective/community care.
Donations are kindly appreciated to compensate teachers for thoughtful preparation. Any donations appreciated.
Materials: Yoga mat or towel, water, blocks (if needed).

–B40 and Before B40 – Wednesday, June 22nd / 6 p.m. with Blaize & Michelle (michelle.glowa@gmail.com)
Location: starts at Goss Ave. & N. Branciforte Ave. intersection (walking tour), Santa Cruz, CA
Description: If we look back to the past of our world, we can see that 1973 was an inflection point, a moment when things that had been going in one direction changed course and curved (abruptly and radically) the other way. Approximately 25,000 people live in Aulinta, formerly Santa Cruz. The buildings of the former downtown were moved out of the liquefacting floodplain after the 1989 earthquake. The downtown floodplain and the creeks that feed it are now in an ongoing program of painstaking restoration back into viable and vibrant seasonal wetlands, coastal prairie, and redwood forests. Come learn about B40 as it is in Aulinta and explore who you are in this new world.
Accessibility: There is a steep grade, and we will be walking on dirt.
And many more classes in the weeks ahead!
